South of the Neosho Wildlife refuge and a west of the Neosho river (both famous for the duck and deer hunting they produce), sets this 52+/- acre hunting tract. This stretch of area that begins at the Neosho Wildlife area that has been imprinting ducks for the last 60+ years. At times the refuge can hold 50,000+ ducks and the stretch of land that follows the river south from the refuge for the next 35 miles and has become the go to duck hunting corridor everyone has been trying to get a piece of. While exact acres of private wetland and waterfowl habitat projects down this corridor is unknown it has to be well into the 10,000+ acre range. Several public projects have also been created and the numerous WRP farms that are now producing quality waterfowl habitat just add to the total waterfowl holding capabilities for this area. I would hate to guess the total number of mallards that this area holds at peak migration but i do not think 500,000 to possibly a million birds could be ruled out.
Property Description: Located on a dead end road(!!!), this 52 acre farm is unique in that it sets between large hardwood/grassland areas, and huge crop fields. A creek that was still holding water during the two year drought seperates the property right down the middle. On the south side of the property you will find more grassland and a pond. This would be a good area to build a marsh to turn this place into your premier duck hunting farm in one of the best duck hunting areas you will find. Turkeys are also known to take advantage of roosting along the creek and using the pasture/hay ground to strut around in the spring. North of the creek already has a wetland feel to it, along with mature timber, but this is also where you will find whitetail deer staging before they enter one of the many neighboring crop fields. Every trip to this farm I have jumped multiple deer. Don't discount hunting the creek during the rut as many bucks will cruise it looking for a doe. The pond is fully stocked and ready for fishing in the hunting offseason.
Directions to property: East of Parsons, Ks and West Of McCune, ks on 400HWY turn North on York road. Go North two miles and turn west on 2600 rd, the property is located 1/4 mile west on the north side of the road.
