Strip Pit farms in the SE corner of kansas are super unique to this landscape. Once thought of as ruins in the aftermath of the coal mining days these lands have become one of the most desirable recreation farms we have. Several of these have been left untouched after the coal shovels left and are piles of shelly rock now overgrown in trees and brush. A few of these have been reclaimed putting as much of the topsoil back in place and planted to grass and are now rolling green hills deep and rich in mineral deposits that the cattle thrive on. This farm is one of those special farms that has been taken care of and done right with knee deep green grass and rolling hills. Cool season fescue and warm season Bermuda grass are both prevelant. 1 big pit was left unfilled and is now full of water giving the cattle and wildlife ample water and a great place to fish. Also cutting thru this farm is Plum Creek running NW towards Lightning Creek. The steep banks in a few parts of both the strip pit and Plum Creek provide a great loafing area for waterfowl on those cold windy winter days. The seller has said of finding thousands of mallards stacked in the flowing Plum Creek when the waterfowl migration is at its peak. Deer and Turkeys are plentiful as well and are often seen grazing in the green pastures. Good fencing on all but the East side and good gate access on both the South and West side make this farm virtually ready to go. The East boundary is currently unfenced and the owner of this farm and the adjoining farm have both places currently leased to 1 local cattle farmer.
