You can spend a lifetime trying to assemble this many acres along a major Kansas River-or you can take advantage of an opportunity that rarely comes to market.
The Chikaskia River Ranch features an incredible 830+/- contiguous acres in Kingman County, Kansas, highlighted by over one mile of the Chikaskia River with ownership on both sides of the river. Combine that with mature river-bottom timber, multiple access points, productive tillable ground, native pasture, established hunting improvements, and outstanding wildlife habitat, and you have one of the most complete recreational properties in this part of the state. This is a turnkey hunting and agricultural ranch offering the acreage and habitat necessary for serious wildlife management while also providing agricultural income and long-term land investment potential.
The river is a great water supply, but this farm is also backed by Buffalo Creek that connects to the river. The creek is believed to be spring fed and enhances the hunting opportunities even more by adding additional waterfowl hunting and cover around the beaver pond.
Located just south of Kingman, Kansas, the ranch offers excellent accessibility without sacrificing the privacy expected from an 830+/- acre property. Highway 14 is located just west of the ranch, with county roads along the south and east sides. The property features four separate access points, providing tremendous flexibility for hunting, ranch operations, and general access. For the serious hunter, multiple entrances are a major advantage. They allow you to play changing winds, access different portions of the ranch with minimal disturbance, and manage hunting pressure throughout the season. The ranch is also conveniently located approximately 45 minutes west of Wichita, allowing an out-of-area owner to fly into Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and be on the ranch in less than an hour.
The Chikaskia River is the heartbeat of this ranch. The combination of mature river-bottom timber, thick cover, dependable water, agricultural fields, native grass, and over 800 contiguous acres creates tremendous whitetail habitat. The deer population is excellent, and current trail-camera history shows a strong buck-to-doe ratio with several mature shooter bucks already utilizing the property. Experienced river hunters know the real excitement begins when the calendar turns to November. The Chikaskia River serves as a natural travel corridor, and the rut can bring new bucks onto the ranch from miles of surrounding country. With over a mile of river and control of both sides, the next owner has an opportunity to hunt and manage a stretch of river corridor that would be extremely difficult to duplicate. At 830+/- acres, there is enough ground to control hunting pressure, establish sanctuaries, develop food sources, strategically position blinds and stands, and implement a strict long-term trophy whitetail management program.
The ranch is located in Kansas Deer Management Unit 15, an area well known for producing quality Kansas whitetails.

The recreational opportunities extend far beyond deer season. The mature river-bottom timber provides excellent roosting and travel habitat for a strong turkey population, creating another outstanding hunting opportunity each spring. The quail population has continued to improve, and the ranch offers the mixture of native grass, brush, field edges, plum thickets, agricultural ground, and river-bottom cover necessary to provide quality upland habitat. The same diverse habitat that makes this ranch exceptional for deer, turkey, quail, and waterfowl also creates excellent predator hunting opportunities. The combination of mature timber, thick river-bottom cover, native grass, agricultural fields, and abundant prey provides quality habitat for both bobcats and coyotes. Whether calling coyotes across the open country or targeting bobcats along the timber and river corridors, predator hunting gives the next owner another reason to enjoy the ranch throughout the winter months.
When cold weather arrives, the Chikaskia River adds an entirely different dimension to the ranch. The river serves as a natural corridor for migrating waterfowl, providing opportunities for duck and goose hunting throughout the fall and winter migration. As smaller bodies of water begin to freeze, moving water can become increasingly important to migrating birds. With over a mile of river running through the ranch and ownership on both sides, the property provides opportunities to hunt waterfowl while maintaining control over access and hunting pressure along this stretch of the Chikaskia.
The Chikaskia River provides even more recreational opportunities beyond hunting. Fishing, exploring the river corridor, and simply enjoying the property add another dimension to the ranch and make it a place that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
The Chikaskia River Ranch is set up so the next owner can begin enjoying the property immediately.
Hunting improvements include:
3 tower blinds
Multiple tree stands
Wildlife feeders
Established hunting locations
4 separate access points
Mature river-bottom habitat
Water and utilities nearby
Combined with the size and layout of the ranch, these improvements provide an excellent foundation for the next owner to continue developing the property into their own premier Kansas hunting destination.
While recreation is one of the ranch's biggest attractions, this is also a productive Kansas agricultural property. A combination of tillable acreage and native pasture provides agricultural income while simultaneously benefiting the wildlife habitat. Agricultural fields provide seasonal food sources, while the pasture, native grass, timber, and river corridor create the bedding, security, and travel cover necessary to hold wildlife throughout the year. The ability to combine agricultural production, grazing, recreation, and wildlife management makes this an incredibly diverse property.
The Chikaskia River Ranch also carries a rich connection to the history of the Wichita Tribe, who made this area along the river home. The location offered everything needed for a successful camp-a dependable water source, abundant wildlife, fertile ground, timber for shelter, and the Chikaskia River as a natural travel corridor. Interestingly, many of those same characteristics are what make this ranch such an exceptional wildlife property today. Evidence of that history can still be found across the ranch. Hundreds of Native American arrowheads and artifacts have been discovered near the Wichita campsite and along the river corridor, providing a tangible connection to those who occupied and hunted this land generations ago. From its Wichita Tribe history to the incredible wildlife habitat found here today, the Chikaskia River has been attracting both people and wildlife for generations.
This isn't simply 830+/- acres of Kansas land-it's a property with a story, history, and landscape that would be nearly impossible to recreate today.
